Women's Resource Center
Since 1975, the Women's Resource Center has provided support, connection, education and direction for women and girls in the five-county area. Our mission is to help women and girls successfully navigate life’s transitions and inspire others to do the same. By providing resources, tools and support for today, we create hope for tomorrow.
Each year we serve approximately 2,400 girls and women through over 4,500 services. Our Helpline is a free information and referral service for callers from all five counties. For clients in need of additional support, we offer Resource Coordination, a new service that blends counseling and case management to help clients navigate challenging life transitions. We provide low-cost Family Law Legal Consultations seven times per month over five sites (Blue Bell, Conshohocken, Media, Wayne and West Chester). We provide a strengths-based program to residents of the emergency shelter of Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, to bolster clients’ decision to leave an abusive relationship. Finally, the Girls Lead Program was offered at nine middle schools and two high schools this year- five of our eleven sites are in Chester County, five are in Delaware County and one is in Montgomery County. This school-based curriculum teaches and reinforces, through practical application and an experiential Leadership Project, four of the interpersonal skills supported in research as protective factors against common adolescent problems.
