The Unstoppables Baseball Leauge .
The Unstoppables Team removes the barriers that keep children with mental, developmental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. This is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. It also provides them the chance to feel the joy of teamwork and success that can be rare in the life of a special needs individual.
To help the athletes, the Unstoppables uses a “buddy” system (like many other large leagues) – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described.
Disabilities usually cause kids to be excluded, whether intentionally or not, from conventional Baseball leagues. Too often, children with disabilities are defined and judged by what they lack rather than what they have.
The Unstoppables baseball League is for ANY child 4-18 years of age, male or female, with a developmental or physical disability. We play 8-10 games a season, one night a week for about an hour. The game is tailored to each child’s ability. Buddies are asked to let the player do all they can themselves but to be nearby to help when needed.
We are creating an interest list for 2019! Please check out our Facebook page or contact us for more information to register.
