Easton is the son of Nathaniel and Heather Minnick. Easton was recently diagnosed with Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly. Treatment for this includes Doc Band Therapy which is a helmet that Easton will be required to wear 23 hours a day for several months. Without treatment, Easton could suffer from cosmetic deformities but also some other issues that include craniofacial abnormalities which has been associated with increased need for special services at school age, jaw asymmetry and TMJ, scoliosis, sleep apnea, visual defects and middle ear abnormalities, which can potentially impact hearing and other aspects of child development. Preliminary and ongoing studies indicate a link between flat head syndrome and delay in neural development, particularly in terms of motor function. With all the recent studies on Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly, it would make sense for insurance to help with this necessary treatment but the insurance company states that their policy will only cover this treatment if Easton requires surgery. Heather and Nathaniel have made the decision to start treatment as self-pay because it would not benefit Easton to postpone this treatment.
Heather and Nathaniel would do anything to help anyone and seeing them go through this has lead me to reach out for them, as they would do for anyone in a similar situation.
