Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited

Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited

The Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited is part of a national conservation organization dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring our coldwater fisheries. The Mianus Chapter has over 500 members living in the Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Wilton communities.

The chapter membership meets monthly, typically at Waveny Mansion in New Canaan, to cover chapter business and hear from a variety of speakers on a range of topics.

As a conservation organization, the Mianus Chapter is primarily involved in active restoration work on local rivers and streams, but also promotes educational activities, hosts regular fishing outings and works with local and state agencies and regional environmental organizations to plan and implement conservation programs.

- Restoring trout habitat in the Mianus and Norwalk rivers
- Keeping our rivers and their banks free from pollution and garbage through annual river cleanup events
- Running Trout in the Classroom programs in the local schools as part of an educational curriculum
- Partnering with government agencies and environmental organizations in strategic planning initiatives
- Hosting an annual fishing derby for Connecticut Special Olympics
- Holding monthly chapter meetings to keep members informed and active
- Coordinating frequent fishing outings to local waters and far-off locations
- Running an annual fundraising banquet to support our work

We invite you to join us by becoming a member, joining our mailing list and learning more about fishing and conservation in your own backyard.
