Dedham School of Music
The Dedham School of Music was founded to provide a space that allows musicians of all ages and backgrounds in Dedham and surrounding communities to grow and hone their skills, and to reinstate an instrumental music lessons program to the local public elementary schools. We are a community music school that provides private and group music instruction, a variety of early childhood classes, chamber ensembles, after school instrumental music programs at local public schools, and performances for the public. The Dedham School was established in 2008 and started with just eight students enrolled in private lessons. According to our grand plan we have been introducing new programs every year, to satisfy the demand of the whole community. Our enrollment has grown to almost 240 students, with about 120 students in our private lessons program and over 110 in our partnership program with local public schools in Dedham and West Roxbury. We also run a highly successful partnership program with Horizons at Dedham Country Day School, a summer camp for low-income youth, in which we provide instruments and music lessons to the students there. As our core mission is offering music instruction to any and all interested, we are committed to keeping our tuition rates affordable while providing music instruction and a faculty of the highest quality. Our most substantial accomplishment lies in the reinstatement and expansion of an instrumental program in the public elementary schools in partnership with the local school district.
