IT ALL STARTS WITH THE BASE
Starting in August, the newly formed team works on fundamentals and rebuilding to lead into a competitive fall season. The fall serves as the base. Every year, new girls move up and join travel for the first time. This lets us get the jitters out early. Also, it keeps us in the swing of softball throughout the year. We take part in tournaments as well as multiple scrimmages and exhibitions against our sister teams from around the region.
WINTER WORKOUTS AND CONDITIONING
Here is where the girls earn their stripes. Starting in December, we begin 2 hour weekly fundamental and conditioning workouts. These consist of a 30 minute conditioning workout that is designed so that the girls can do it at home 2-3 more times during the week. Remember those pillars Discipline and Dedication? Additionally, the girls then spend the next 90 minutes working on fundamentals and developing enhanced skills. Our indoor training facility is provided by The Edge Training Academy.
These workouts are designed around the travel squad, however, they are also open to the public. We recognize that not everyone is ready for travel softball. In fact, most are probably a little intimidated. But our goal is to raise the level of quality in our local softball program across the board. For that reason, we are opening the program to the community. For more info click the contact us link, and we will shoot you back a response.
SPRING AND SUMMER
We are all working toward something. By the time the spring season rolls around the Island Fury teams have been working together 8 months. We begin field work in early march. Games and tournaments start in April. This is the time where we reap the rewards of dedication. Tournaments roll into July. Events in the summer give the girls opportunities to play in state championships as well as the USSSA World Series!
