Atlanta Youth Tennis and Education Foundation
The Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (AYTEF) is a non-profit 501c3 organization established to meet the needs of underresourced children in the metro Atlanta area. Our mission is “to promote the physical and mental development of underserved youth through tennis and education.” We strive to provide a pathway to excellence with our literacy, life-skills & fitness/tennis instruction that enables youth in our programs to engage in safe, healthy and challenging afterschool and summer programs.
AYTEF is one of 600 National Junior Tennis & Learning Chapters (NJTL) in the United States and underneath that, one of 28 Capacity Building Chapters. The NJTL Chapters were founded on the vision of Arthur Ashe “as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people in the inner cities and other poor environments so that we can teach them about matters more important than tennis.”
Beyond the tennis instruction, tournaments and team tennis, the afterschool programs include a focus on life skills and healthy lifestyles, academic support through the Academic Creative Engagement (ACE) curriculum, a National Student Athlete Competition, and scholarship opportunities for youth. Our aim is to impart the skills and resilience needed for youth to succeed in school and life.
