Hampden-Sydney College Rotaract Club
The Rotaract Club, a component of Rotary International, is a service club for students at Hampden-Sydney College. Rotaract fosters leadership, encourages high ethical standards, and promotes international understanding and peace. Rotaract is a non-political and non-sectarian organization. The guiding principle of the Rotaract Club is "Service Above Self."
The first Rotaract Club was started at the University of North Carolina in 1968. The Rotaract Club is one of the most significant and fastest growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 7,600 Rotaract Clubs in 158 countries with 176,000 members. Rotaract carries out at least one community service project per year, to improve the lives of people around them. In addition, one international service project is carried out each year to learn more about other cultures.
