Hopper Academy was built in 1910 as one of the few schools in Florida for African-American students, After being closed as a school in 1962, Hopper Academy was acquired in the late 1990's by the Community Improvement Association whose purpose is to restore and operate the building. A complete restoration is nearing completion and Hopper will reopen as a community and cultural center soon. The Community Improvement Association of Seminole County, Inc, is a 501(c)3 organization.
