Nia Cultural Center Freedom School
The Nia Cultural Center's Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School® seeks to build strong, literate, and empowered children prepared to make a difference in themselves, their families, communities, nation, and world. By providing summer reading enrichment for children in grades K-12 who might otherwise not have access to books, The program plays a much needed role in helping to curb summer learning loss and closing the achievement gaps.
Servant Leader Interns (college students and recent college graduates) facilitate the Integrated Reading Curriculum. They are assisted by Junior Servant Leader Interns (high school students) who also complete a college prep and job readiness training.
Raffle River has helped Nia Cultural Center Freedom School
