Celebrating the Life of Mike Gnoza

Around noon on January 1st, my father suddenly collapsed. The incredible EMT's arrived almost instantly; however, all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Our lives changed in the span of 15 minutes. Life as we know it has come to an end. The glue that held our family together was gone. I don't think I'm ever going to go a day without thinking about him. I miss him so much.

Everyone in the community has been so amazing. I am touched by the seemingly endless compassion folks have shown us. A parade of our neighbors came out in droves, armed with hugs, food, and comforting words. It was so beautiful - and frankly, as traumatic and heartbreaking as it has been for my mother and fiancé (who considered him a father figure), this outpouring of kindness has changed all of us.

My dad was kind of a solitary guy towards the end of his life, but being a lifelong worker in town, he knew a TON of people, and he was so widely liked amongst people because he was a nice person.

Unfortunately, because it was such a sudden passing, we were not financially prepared for the fallout. Again, thanks to outreach from our friends in the community, a portion of the cost has been offset. I literally don't even have words to express how grateful I am. I have learned how deeply the well of humanity's compassion runs when *people I don't even know* contributed to a GoFundMe a friend set up for us. That is unbelievable to me. When the dust settles, there is so much I want to do to give back to the community. I am so, so blown away.

Although everyone has been so wonderful, we're still struggling to keep the household afloat while paying for even the lowest expense cremation services. So I'm raffling off some of my custom painted furniture and handmade jewelry, along with other beautiful handmade items from friends of ours, to offset the expenses.

I can't thank everyone enough for all you have done to help me and my family during this painful and trying time.
