WWG is the flagship event of Crossroads and the first ever CrossFit™ styled event designed to level the playing field for adaptive athletes. Athletes compete in broad categories as opposed to the strict categorization associated with the Paralympics. This enables Crossroads to keep the fields larger and provide a true competition environment.
WWG began in 2012 with 27 registered athletes and grew to 89 registered athletes from 7 countries in 2015 with goal of 100 in 2016. Athletes are wounded veterans, civilians who have overcome trauma, people with congenital amputations, and those living with cerebral palsy, ALS, spina bifida, TBI, and PTSD. Although we serve all adaptive athletes, over half of our competitors are wounded veterans.
The donations associated with this online campaign to give away a Crossroads C2 Ski Erg (see pictures) will go toward the operating costs of WWG-17
Crossroads Adaptive Athletic Alliance is the only US 501c3 nonprofit of its kind - building a stronger community for adaptive athletes and their coaches. We help athletes with permanent needs participate in life-changing fitness opportunities through education, grants, and competition. Our most enthusiastic desire is to work as an advocate for adaptive athlete inclusion in sports and fitness worldwide.
