The RLS Birthday Raffle is to benefit the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, home to the world's largest, publically displayed collection of author Robert Louis Stevenson.
The proceeds from the RLS Birthday Raffle are essential to the regular operation of the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum. In addition to supporting the daily operation of the Museum, the proceeds will directly benefit:
Public Programming: The RLSM provides free and educational programming that is open to all members of the public and focuses on bringing Stevenson and his works into daily life.
Educational Outreach: The RLSM utilizes the works of Stevenson to inspire and enhance the learning of every student. We strive to expose students to Stevenson through projects that engage and challenge student's understanding and celebrates their individual talents. It is of paramount importance to the RLSM that Stevenson be used as a tool to improve literacy, writing, and understanding local history.
Collection Conservation: The collection of the RLSM is over 100 years old and requires constant attention and care. The proceeds from this raffle will also go to keeping the collection preserved for future generations and accessible to scholars, authors, and students from around the world.
The goal of this raffle is to raise funds to support all these components, but also to bring you into the unique circle of individuals who see the value and importance of this institution and its unique place in literary and cultural history.
The Robert Louis Stevenson Museum is the home of the world's largest, publically displayed collection dedicated to Robert Louis Stevenson, author of classics such as Treasure Island and Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Our collection is comprised of 11,000 collection pieces including original letters, manuscripts, photographs, and personal belongings as well as rare publications of Stevenson's work.
It is the mission of the RLSM to connect the human experience with the life, times, and works of RLS. This is accomplished through educational outreach, public programs and events, and unique exhibitions both inside and outside of the museum.
The RLS Museum gallery is free and open to the public. Our archive of materials is available for research purposes by appointment.
